After organizing wonderful tours in the recent years, Hikmat International Institute is pleased to announce that the next “Learning Tour of Iran” will be held in October 2020 for professors, students, and anyone who is interested to see Iran’s most important tourist attractions and learn more about the beauty, culture, religions and history of that great and historical land. There will also be friendly meetings and discussions with academics, religious leaders, scholars etc. The tour will be held with high standards and is an amazing opportunity. The group will include 15 to 20 participants.
Morteza Rezazadeh, founder and president of Hikmat International Institute will lead this learning tour. As a graduate of the Islamic Seminaries of Qom and Hartford Seminary in the United States, he is an expert in Religions; mainly Islamic and Shiite Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations. As a professor of Islamic theology and jurisprudence, he is ideally equipped to introduce foreigners to the culture and religion of Iran.
Iran is a country with thousands of years of history and culture. Many people travel to Iran to learn more about this ancient land as well as seeing the modern Iran. Since several centuries ago, Shia Islam has been the formal religion of the country and today, about 90 percent of the Iranians are Shia Muslims.
Most of the political and cultural developments in Iran are tightly connected to or originated from Shiite Islamic teachings. So, it is important to be familiar with it in order to have a proper understanding of the Iranian culture and the state. In Qom, in addition to our regular visits of the sights including the beautiful Shrine of Lady Masumah and meetings with the scholars, you will have the chance to attend a lecture about Shiite Islam with Questions and answers.
The 7th Hikmat Learning Tour of Iran in October 2020 will coincide with the day of Arba’een which marks the 40th day after Ashura. The day of Ahshura marks the day that Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, was martyred in the Battle of Karbala. Ashura is a major holiday and occasion for pilgrimage in Shia Islam. Ashura rituals that continues until Arba’een. These rituals are some of the most important elements of the culture and identity of Shia Muslims. The Arba’een Pilgrimage is the world’s largest annual public gathering in the world. Millions of people gather in Karbala to show their love to Imam Husayn who raised to establish justice in the society and fight against corruption and was killed along with his family and companions. This special time makes it easier for the participants to see some of these religious rituals for themselves and also get more familiar with this important part of Islam by several discussions that will take place during the trip.
In addition to all the visits of the tourist sights, the Hikmat Learning Tour of Iran will include academic workshops. These lectures are designed to provide participants with the practical knowledge that is required to understand contemporary Iran in terms of culture, politics, art, history, religion, etc.
