These lectures are designed to provide participants with the practical knowledge that is required to understand contemporary Iran in terms of culture, politics, art, history, religion, etc.

Dr. Morteza Rezazadeh

Founder and president of Hikmat International Institute will lead this learning tour. As a graduate of the Islamic Seminaries of Qom and Hartford Seminary in the United States, he is an expert in Religions; mainly Islamic and Shiite Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations. As a professor of Islamic theology and jurisprudence, he is ideally equipped to introduce foreigners to the culture and religion of Iran.

April 20

  • Arrival in Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) and transfer to hotel
  • Rest and overcome jetlag
  • Welcome meeting at the hotel

April 21

Morning:

  • Saad Abad Palace and museum
  • Meeting at Iranology foundation
  • Jamaran Village (home of Ayatollah Khomeini)

Afternoon:     

  • Milad Tower: Tallest in Iran and sixth tallest in World
  • Possible meetings at dinner time

April 22

Morning:

  • Visiting a Jewish synagogue
  • Meeting at the Armenian Church with Archbishop Sarkisian. Lecture on history of Armenians in Iran
  • Lunch (Meetings at lunch time)

Afternoon:

  • Tajrish district in the northern Tehran (Shrine and Bazaar)

April 23

Morning:

  • Iran National museum
  • Golestan Palace: a masterpiece of the Qajar era.

Afternoon:

  • Depart to Qom
  • Dinner at Mehr-o-Mah complex
  • Arrive in Qom in the evening and check in the hotel

April 24

Morning:

  • Visiting the Shrine of Lady Ma’sumah
  • Meeting with an Ayatollah
  • Workshop

Afternoon:

  • Imam Khomeini`s House in Qom
  • Mara’shi Najafi library
  • Jami’at al-Zahra (Ladies Islamic Seminary)

April 25

  • Leave Qom towards Kashan in the morning
  • possibly stop at the Fadak Olive Farm and visit the farm
  • Fin Historical Garden in Kashan
  • Lunch
  • Check in the Hotel and a short rest
  • Historical Houses of Kashan

April 26

Morning:

  • Leave toward Isfahan
  • Stop in the historical village of Abyaneh on the way to Isfahan

Afternoon:

  • Historical Bridges of Isfahan

Morning:

  • Naqsh-e Jahan Square and its surrounding areas including:
  • Aali Qapu Palace
  • The Masjed-e Imam Mosque (Shah Mosque / Royal Mosque)

  • Traditional Bazaar of Isfahan

Morning:

  • Vank Armenian Cathedral
  • Chehel Sotoun (40 Columns) Palace

Afternoon:

  • Leave Isfahan toward Yazd sharp after lunch
    • Arrive in Yazd
    • Dolat Abad Garden
    • Dinner at Moshir traditional restaurant

April 29

Morning:

  • Towers of Silence
  • The Zoroastrian Fire Temple (burning since 470AD).

Afternoon:

  • Jameh Mosque of Yazd
  • Amir Chakhmaq complex
  • Yazd Water Museum
 

April 30

Morning:

  • Leave Yazd heading Shiraz after breakfast to be at Persepolis around noon; short stop at Pasargadae (grave of Cyrus the Great)

Afternoon:

  • Visiting Persepolis
  • Arrive in Shiraz in the evening and check in the hotel

Morning:
